Ο διάδοχος του Blu-ray Disc είναι καθ’οδόν.



Με τα specs του Ultra HD Blu-ray format να έχουν από σήμερα οριστικοποιηθεί. Αυτά τα νέα έρχονται από το Blu-ray Disc Association.

Ο νέος δίσκος θα έχει 4 φορές την ανάλυση των Blu-ray Discs ενώ το όλο σύστημα θα υποστηρίζει high dynamic range (HDR) για μια πολύ βελτιωμένη εικόνα αλλά και high frame rate content. Το επονομαζόμενο και Ultra HD Blu-ray θα δίνει και καλύτερο χρώμα – wider color gamut, με 75% καλύτερα χρώματα στο τέλος.


Το πρότυπο ήταν σχεδόν έτοιμο στην Consumer Electronics Show στο Las Vegas το Γενάρη, ενώ η Panasonic είχε δείξει και ένα UHD Blu-ray Disc player που αναμένεται στο τέλος του 2015.
“For years, Blu-ray Disc has set the standard for high definition picture and audio quality in the home. Ultra HD Blu-ray will do the same for UHD home entertainment,” λέει ο υπεύθυνος της επιτροπής BDA promotions και αντιπρόεδρος του Sony Blu-ray group Victor Matsuda, “The technical capabilities of Blu-ray Disc, in particular its significant storage capacity and high data transfer rates, will enable the delivery of an unparalleled, consistent and repeatable UHD experience.”



Στην Blu-ray Disc Association είναι οι: LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Disney, Fox, Warner Bros. Paramount, Lionsgate, αλλά και οι Dolby, DTS, Intel και Microsoft.
